How to Cook Ribs in the Oven Fast
The main reason that they are easily cooked in the oven is because they can be left unattended for hours. Simply prep, add a rub, and then bake.
Cooking pork ribs in the oven is so effective because it allows them to be slowly cooked. This keeps the moisture just right, removing the tough texture of the rib and making sure that each rib is the softest, most delicious that you have ever tasted!
After a few hours, the meat literally falls off the bone! It may take a while to cook but it’s very low maintenance, and the wait is certainly worth it!
Easy Oven Baked Country Style Pork Ribs Recipe
- 3-4 lbs of ribs
- Barbecue Sauce (homemade or store bought)
- Dry Rub (homemade or store bought)
- Salt and Pepper
Before any cooking is done, you want to get them prepared. Start by removing them from the refrigerator for around a half hour, allowing them to reach room temperature. Preheat the oven to 275F.
Remove the white membrane on the backside. This is made easier by cutting beneath the membrane along the length of the bones and then placing your fingers under the membrane and pulling it off.
Once all the membrane has been removed, proceed to coat both sides the ribs in your favourite dry rub, be it homemade or store-bought. Season thoroughly with salt and pepper. Cut the rack into even sections so they will fit onto a foil-covered baking sheet.
Cover the ribs completely with layers of foil – this helps to retain the moisture in the oven.
Costco Ribs Cooking Instructions
Your oven should be the right temperature for the ribs, so it’s just a case of placing them in the middle rack and waiting! To ensure they cook to perfection, it’s best to slow-cook them so they are baked just right.
How long do you cook ribs in the oven?
Baking times for ribs vary, but for around 3 lbs are expected to bake for around 3 hours, while 5 lbs may need 4 ½ hours until ready. A good way to check is by piercing the meat to see if they are tender enough – it never hurts to extent the cooking time by 15-20 minutes if you want that really tender finish.
Once cooked, remove from the oven and coat with your favorite BBQ sauce, although you can use virtually any kind of sauce you want to! Generously glaze with sauce, stick under the broiler for a few minutes until just bubbling.
This doesn’t take long so always keep an eye to avoid burning.
